• Leading a team of eight quantity surveyors working on up to 16 concurrent projects most with budgets greater than NZ$ 10m (ZAR 100m)
• Aligning project schedules with cost estimates and helping project managers detect and mitigate changes in project scope, duration or cost
• Directly managing up to two projects at any one time, including the construction of a concrete reservoir and water treatment plant with a team of 54 people

• Achieved a net saving of NZ$ 400k (ZAR 4m) in project costs by planning and coordinating tasks more effectively, which led to completion three months early
• The weir was awarded “best concrete structure” by the department
• Devised a cost-coding model that improved cost management by detecting positive and negative variances early. The model was adopted across the department

Quantity Surveyor – De Hoop Dam, Roossenekal Jul 2009 – Jul 2011
This dam has 2km of concrete wall, is 95m high with a total construction budget of NZ$ 340m (ZAR 3.4b). It used innovative immersion-vibrated roller-compacted concrete (RCC) for which the department was recognised as a world-leader and received two Fulton awards.
