New Project:Bhendi Bazaar revamp Phase-1 (Mumbai)
CCS India’s client –Capacite Infraprojects Pvt Ltd has been appointed as contractor to carry out the construction of the rehabilitation component of the Rs 4,000-crore Bhendi Bazaar redevelopment project.
Abbas Master, chief executive officer of Saifee Burhani Upliftment Trust (SBUT) that is executing the redevelopment project, said, “We have appointed Capacite Infraprojects as the contractor for sub-cluster 3; it will have two rehab towers of about 30 storeys each. We are committed to completing the first phase of the project within three years.”
Master refused to disclose how much the trust is paying the contractor to construct the rehab component. In all, 3,200 residential tenants and 1,250 commercial units are to be rehabilitated. Overall 17 towers have been planned as part of the redevelopment project spread over 16.5 acres.
A spokesperson for SBUT said the trust is also exploring the appointment of a developer for the other sub-clusters. Sources said the redevelopment of the masjid is being done in-house.
During the recent legislative session, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis had informed the council that the project would take 8-10 years to be completed.
Mustafa Kachwala, a trustee for SBUT, said the trust had carried out the excavation and piling work. “Since last fortnight, construction work has started,” he said.
The project recently received the Best Smart City Project 2016 Award during a conclave in Delhi on smart cities supported by the Centre. The Bhendi Bazaar Redevelopment project beat the GIFT City in Gujarat, DLF 5 in Gurgaon and Blue Ridge in Hinjewadi, Pune
