The course covers all aspects of the estimating system, bill creation, worksheets and resources. Other topics covered include, subcontract adjudication, pricing, mark up, valuations and allowable control.
Construction Planning & Programming (C202) Suitable for Planners, Site Engineers, Site agents, Contract Managers and Estimators new to Candy. Detailed instruction will be given to produce a working program. Candidates then continue with planning & controlling the project, and recording the as-built program as well as managing the information from the design team as required by the program. Effective reporting on the project status across all levels of management is also covered.
Project Valuations & Cost Reporting (C203) A two-day course for Estimators, Quantity Surveyors, Site Engineers, Site agents, Contract Managers and Commercial Managers. The course covers estimating (review), post-tender checks, value engineering (re-modelling), correct coding structures, pricing and management of variation orders, management of subcontractor payments, valuations (with actual, claimed, paid and final quantities), generating resources and budget control, including cost uploads into the Candy Cost & Allowables module with the generation of key cost report information.
Forecast Budget & Cash Flow (C301) (Integration of Estimating and Planning) A course suitable for Estimators, Planners, Site Engineers, Contract Managers and Quantity Surveyors who are familiar with Candy Estimating and Planning. The course concentrates on the integration of Estimating and Planning to create forecasts, budgets and a more detailed cash flow analysis. The course also covers updating the program to generate the valuation quantities which are used to produce to-date budgets and remaining forecast budgets. * Candidates must have attended the Estimating (C201) or Valuations (C203) and Planning (C202) courses.
Introductory Courses
Materials Received (C103) Suitable for site clerks involved in capturing delivery notes and other site costs. Reconciling the materials received to the head office ledger, generating reports for cost and bulk material reconciliation are covered in detail.
Principles of Planning (C102) Suitable for Planners, Site Engineers, Site Agents, Contract Managers and Estimators. The course covers definitions, objectives and philosophy of planning and programming, tender and project planning, short–term programmes, precedence networks and practicals. Candidates will learn to draw and calculate a network, plot a bar chart, allocate resources and plot resource histograms. They will also develop a good understanding of the principles upon which Candy Planning is based.
Principles of Estimating (C104) Suitable for Estimators, Site Engineers, Site agents, Contract Managers. The course covers objectives, preparation, planning, analysing, finalising and submission of a tender. Candidates will learn to do a tender summary, kick-off meeting agenda and draft P & G’s. Practically, candidates will calculate basic rates, worksheet calculations and splitting rates into resource groups. They will also develop a good understanding of the principles upon which Candy Estimating is based.

Advanced Courses
Candy Earned Value and Financial Forecasting (C401) Suitable for Estimators, Planners, Site Engineers, Project managers, Contract Managers and Quantity Surveyors who are familiar with Candy Estimating and Planning. This is a one day course designed to help any person that needs to prepare earned value management graphs, cost and allowable comparisons, forecasting of cost and allowable to completion. The course will also focus on the linking between the estimate and program and the preparation of forecasting graphs. The course is suitable for experience users in both Candy Estimating and Candy Planning that want to know how to compile and manage Financial forecasts & Earned value analysis in Candy. The course covers the basics about Candy Cost & Allowable Forecasting including bill and program linking methods, program and valuation preparation, linking, allowable and cost forecasts, program and valuation synchronisation cost and allowable graphs.
Candy Advanced Estimating (C403)* A one-day course suitable for Estimators that have completed the C201 course and are currently pricing their estimates in Candy. This course is designed to give the Estimator exposure to more of the estimating tools that are available in Candy. Tools that will not only speed up the pricing process but will also enhance the quality of the estimate. Some knowledge of Candy Planning will most definitely be an added advantage to grasp some of the concepts that will be covered in the training. The course covers advanced worksheet functions, global variables including switches, macro price codes, the indirects bill, alternate estimates and addendum merging. * South Africa only.
Quantity Take-off Workshop (C305) A one-day course suitable for Estimators and Quantity surveyors. The course handles all aspects of measuring on our Quantity Take-off software. The course covers the importing of drawings, measuring using the measuring tools, setting up measure folders and templates and also linking Candy bill items to the measurements. The course also shows delegates how to measure progress quantities and how to handle drawing revisions. *Knowledge of basic measuring principles required
